Looks like the most northern building in the New England Produce Center in Chelsea - the one where you actually saw reefers spotted once in a while - the one served by PAR in the past and just resurrected by CSX since the F Plate restriction has been recently removed - is GONE!





Found this article. I guess it doesn't look good for reefer or probably any type of rail service.

Looks like reefer service in the NEPC did not die with the closure of Boston Market Terminal. See single reefer in lower left:

There were actually two separate terminals in there. Boston Market Terminal was technically in Chelsea, entrance off Market St on Riley Way. New England Produce Center is in Everett off Beacham St. If you look closely you can see the fence between the two properties on aerial photos, and the gate across Riley Way.

Yes. On Google Earth it looks like one storage track is north of the fence on the BMT side and a shorter one is located south of the fence on the NEPC side. It also looks like the longer northern one has already been removed.

I just saw a photo on NERAIL of POAY rolling through Haverhill with "10 RSGU trash containers" in the consist. I haven't seen anything of this sort before; is this new traffic? If so, where's it originating? Thanks!

RSGU sounds like Republic Services, the trash company that had been loading containers in Nashua, Ayer and (no longer) Holyoke (now at Athol Junction on CSX). Question remains, where is it originating?

I think that the 495 overpass/bridge with the clearance issues in the one that crosses the tracks and the Merrimack at Sutton Street in North Andover.

Hearing that the former Lehigh Cement facility at Wilmington has been reopened and receiving cars, any truth to that rumor?
