2nd floor was the interlocking control/block operator, and I never saw that sign there. Downstairs was Signal, and had more than the usual number of maintainers for a interlocking. (Gang HQ?) At one time Charlotte Ave yard in Hicksville was both a Frt and a signal HQ. When GCY banished the NYA from the secondary, they were given Charlotte Ave yard, Signal got the old circus train yard at Mitchel Field, and the YFD crew took up residence at Atlantic Pipe. That sign may have been recovered from the Charlotte Ave yard and kept downstairs by a displaced maintainer. Usually they're pretty good about finding relics homes, so I'm surprised to see that there, unless it was stashed in a wall and forgotten.

I think LIRR took it back for the Mainline Third Track project. It was mentioned that NYA got it for agreeing to not use the Garden Mitchell Secondary maybe around 2001. Azzil Granite has since folded and no longer takes cars in the West John Street Hicksville Yard.
