NY Existing Stations Update

Not weird then! I think it was the Club Car (hence the name). You enter at the lower level, right? It certainly had the foreboding sign on the door when I went to Mamaroneck station a few years ago. I don't have a problem with it, that's a crowded part of the county. Just used the wrong word.

Coincidentally a few weeks later a truly weird political story did pop up on my radar about a little video ambush team with its office two blocks away. It got national notoriety, and so Mamaroneck was in the news. But that's politics.

I bought a $5 lifetime bicycle pass for MNRR, purchased at GCT, which still has agents . Over all I'd say MNRR is a good trip, and not much different from 40 years ago. On the other hand, my NJT trip had people almost hanging out the doors from crowding. Maybe just bad luck. It used to be rated one of the best transit agencies in the country.

Club car was not a success, but the new one is. It's called Modern on the Rails, and has a really good menu and chef. Yes, you enter from the street on Railroad Plaza. Theoretically, you could enter from the underpass; not sure if they keep it locked or not. The old station benches are stored in the tunnel.

I just took a "drive through" with google street view. I'm very impressed with that station. So nice to see old stations utilized like this. It reminds me of Kansas City where I ate in a converted freight house. I may add this to my "Must Visit Someday" list.

Thank God its not in Buffalo. We still haven't even figured out how to connect the NFTA Metro Rail with the Arena so passengers don't have to walk over a live track and street during winter.

I don't suppose anybody thought of putting an enclosed elevated walkway between the DL&W 2nd floor and the Arena? [Sorry, different topic]

Finished updating Onondaga and Cortland Counties with new photos and data. Also continuing St. Lawrence County.

I have one trolley stop in Brewerton I can't find for Onondaga County. Who knows when I'll find that one, so I'll call it done.

I noticed Poland is off the list for Herkimer County. It's still there. The owner encapsulated it with a new structure but it exists. He retained the original window in the peak of the roof on the west end.

For Chautauqua Institution, whose (interurban?) station is embedded in the entry (and County Visitors's bureau)

Thanks. Those stations have been on my site for awhile. Please check out Chautauuqa County and any other county of interest. I re-shot the stations in that county last summer. Took all day!

Can you provide some location info, etc? It's been off the list since 1999 as torn down. Thanks.

Many updates for St. Lawrence, Jefferson, and Orange Counties, including data and photos. All three are ongoing.

NYC Chaumont freight house (St. Lawrence), NYC Antwerp (Jefferson), and the Erie's Houghton Farm and Bullville (both Orange) have been added to the list.

I got an updated photo of the Brewerton trolley stop in Onondaga, finishing up that county.

Still missing the DL&W South Granby depot. I've been told what street it's on but have not been able to find it.

Also added the O&W freight house at Phoenix, still in place. This also came from a tip and some further tax research on my part.

Added a photo for the newly discovered NYC passenger station in Le Roy (Genesee County). It was moved circa 1935. Built in 1901. The station was sitting near the D&R Depot restaurant all this time. It was on the Verify page as a possible BR&P depot, prior to the brick depot being built. Measurement proved that wrong. But Sanborn maps and the real property office helped show what it really was.

Started Oneida County with updated photos and data (the updated ones have lat/long info).

The DL&W depot at Washington Mills is removed, torn down in 2020.

The Oneida Railway's Building #269 is added.

The Erie Canal Village is closed so I had no access to photograph that one.

The NYC Woodgate station is set in and POSTED. Anyone riding the ADIR or working on it and can grab a photo with their cell phone, it would be appreciated.
