We were in the siding at Amagansett waiting for a GP to arrive and take us back to Jamaica. We flew back to Jamaica.

The November, 1986 trip to LIC, West Hemp and Montauk was supposed to be L-2 powered, and the flyers said so. Big disappointment- two E-15s, 153 was one of them, as I recall, were the power. Never got a reason for the change of power. 619 was the power-pack. She looked fine that day.

My late Brother Don was the Road Forman/Transportation Manager on these trips, the L-2's seen better days, Spring 1984 the #227 powered a trip to Montauk, before he got there, Don ask for extra engine to go Westbound, #266 was sent on Train #4012, the old Alco could not got out of its own, the 1985 trip break down with an L-2 and the June 1986 trip troubles with the revered when operated from #619, the crew put the Alco's on the west end because of it at Greenport.
The Fall 1986 flyer never said Alco Power, after the troubles with the Alco's, it's was time to use EMD on the Fan Trips.

I distinctly remember the flyer for the November, 1986 trip said "Alco Motive Power," and it went to L.I.C. via the Lower Montauk, then West Hempstead, and then out to Montauk and back. It returned via the Central Branch, making a stop at Hicksville, then Jamaica. I got the flyer at Hobby Images in Hicksville, a now long-closed hobby shop.

Trainman14 Thank you about my brother Don, he loved the FanTrips and the Railfans just as much, he did a good number of them, the Spring 1984 trip came to Montauk as Passenger Extra East 227 and the 227 was a signal engine, it was having trouble keeping time, Don call for a second engine to stay on time westbound to Jamaica, dispatch sent out out an extra GP-38 on #4012, #266 was put on the east end of the fantrip and #227 on west end.
