Hello everyone. This is my first post on railroad.net! :-D

I have noticed within the past few years, there have been some heritage stickers on the front or side of certain locomotives.
In particular, engine 404 had two 1970s MTA logos on the front of the engine around October of 2018, and then reduced to one sticker around late April of 2019, and then repainted with no heritage stickers (or the present day MTA logo) around September of 2019. Engine 416 has one MTA sticker on the front of the engine and as far as I know still has this sticker, and engine 420 had the same sticker for about a few weeks in late 2018. Engine 511 had a Dashing Dan sticker on the side of the locomotive from mid 2017 to early 2019.
Does anyone know of any other DM30AC/DE30ACs, C3 cab cars, or even M3s or M7s which have/had any heritage paint schemes or heritage stickers? (I am already aware of the heritage paint schemes and stickers on SW1001s and MP15ACs, such as 166 and 105)

None of the passenger equipment has officially sanctioned heritage logos. More than likely just shop or engine service personnel with pride in their history applying them. Hence their removal.

The only fleet that has old logos, allowed, at least not bothered are the 1000/1500s and thats likely not even officially allowed.

Ok. Thank you. Does anyone happen to know if something like this, such as similar heritage stickers placed on the locomotives, happened to any other locomotives on the LIRR before, other than the ones which were listed?

As a One Year Anniversary Special for my YouTube channel, I uploaded an episode of LIRR 404: the DE30AC which had Two MTA Meatball Logos from the 1970s on its front for a short amount of time, and was considered an unofficial heritage unit! I also decided to post this on my first topic of railroad.net, as it represents the formation of one of my major forms of social media. Hope you enjoy this channel special! :-D

A sticker doesn't make anything "heritage"...

For all we know someone found an old sticker and didn't know any better.

I know of LIRR Engine that need some TLC as Heritage Unit and we can called our own, it's RS-# 1556, and RMLI will welcome the help, LIRR Diesels been sticker for 50 plus years, the LIRR got enough trouble without "Railfans Dreams".

Uh... by who?
By a few local railfans, including myself.

Hence the key word, unofficial heritage unit.

How about some red and gold reflective LIRR keystones, about 40" 38"? Put them on the nose of every unit as it comes online; show the MTA we're not to be trifled with, and they bear responsibility for everything that happens. And of course, we will not submit to blackmail!

in my opinion, a couple teenaged railfans considering something a heritage unit (presumably to break up the drab monotony of M7s) doesn't make it an unofficial heritage unit

That's why we're entitled to our opinions. Some consider 404 with its Meatball logo an unofficial heritage unit while others don't. The fact that this locomotive had something which made it stand out in an otherwise monotonous fleet is interesting enough to be focused on and covered in my channel's one year anniversary in a series which covers otherwise little known locomotives.

I once saw a locomotive with a long skinny dog drawn in the dust on the fuel tank. His tongue was hanging out.

Does that make it a candidate for your channel? The tongue hanging out made it stand out.

If it's not a railroad logo, then no.

This would. (Note the small PRR Keystone on its nose, in a similar nature as 404's meatball logo)

Words matter. If it ain't in the historical colors, it's not a heritage unit.

Feel free to call them sticker units....you won't confuse everyone else who knows what a heritage unit is supposed to mean.
