Yep. And if you come down here. There's a pretty orange one working the WCOR too.

W&C runs WC-1 at night. The water train goes on duty at 8pm as well. Another water train out of Painted Post has been stopped by the Sierra Club. Sand is still the main commodity. Saw Tommy Myles two Fridays ago at Glass Fest who still works with the G&W and says they're looking to grow even more once more land is available to develop.

Not sure if I should post this here because the Alcos are in PA. But, an Alco has ventured into the Corning yard a few times, right?

Three Alcos are in imminent danger of being scrapped. None is in operable condition but any could be a parts supply.

Three are Tioga Central 47, RS3, and Tioga Central ex-Susquehanna 240, an RS1 and Tioga Central 62, another RS1.

All are on the Wellsboro & Corning RR.

If you or someone you know is in position to keep the Visigoths from doing their worst to these locomotives, please do. I will supply contact info.

Two other Alcos, Tioga Central 14, an S2, and 506, a chop-nose ex-D&H RS3 in sorta-Bicentennial paint have also been sidelined, but railroad management wants to get them back into the kind of shape where the inspectors will allow operations.

Edit: you are free to circulate this info to groups or lists as you see fit. The wider the word is spread, the more likely these vintage pieces can be saved.

All three are Alco RS1's..
the part about one of them being an RS3 is incorrect..

The three locos are:

Alco RS1, built 1945
Originally NYSW (Susquehanna) No. 240
to Tioga Central 240

Alco RS1, built 1945
Originally Washington Terminal No. 47.
to Amtrak 47
to Tioga Central 47
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u45/ ... llsize.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Alco RS1, built 1950
Originally Washington Terminal No. 62.
to Amtrak 62
to Tioga Central 62

All three OOS in Wellsboro, PA.

While two of the RS1s are not surprises, it is sad to see #62 on the list. She was hauling excursions just a few years ago.

Does anyone know what the Wellsboro and Corning is up to these days? Haven't seen much buzz or content about what they might be doing down there. Can't imagine there is much traffic, though.

WCOR is still in the sand hauling business based on NS scanner traffic I've heard. There are a couple of other customers on the line, as well.
