How many truck trips would that translate to? Plus a truck could probably make more than 1 trip per day going the general Secaucus area. JS

@punpers Typically a rail car carries the equivalent of 4 trucks. So at least 4 trucks to carry one rail car load of sand, plus having to pay trucking permits, and then having to pay drivers.

It’s WAY cheaper in that sense to bring it by rail.

Some new pictures and videos from yesterday can be found at the top of the page.

Also, has anyone noticed that a lot of construction markings have shown up along the Southern Secondary recently? Mainly AT&T wire locations, but several pink marks (indication of a survey taking place) can also be found. Markings are also showing up on the Freehold to Farmingdale line...

Ugh. I’m stuck in physical therapy so I won’t be able to see it. Oh well, it’s just 4452 again. Tired of seeing that engine >:(

They probably didn’t go back because of the nightmare at Cross Street last night. SA31 didn’t drop the tank at Second Street like they were supposed to which made things very difficult for SA38. Can’t fit 18 cars in there.

Never would be a problem if they could still use the 25 car long siding in Lakehurst!

SA38 derailed in Lakewood. One of the boxcars derailed and is on the ground at Cross Street. They are currently drilling Woodhaven.
