Does anyone remember what year this whole rebuild program started? I just noticed that 91 cars has been rebuilt. So that means they are almost complete. I thought it started in 2015 but I could be wrong. Seems like 4-5 years.

From my notes and data from NE Transit:

The MBTA Board of Directors approved on July 11, 2012 a $114 million contract with Alstom of Hornell NY to overhaul 74 Kawasaki bi-level cars with options to overhaul 32 additional cars at a later date. Wrecked car 1710 will not be overhauled and its repair is no longer an option. (NE Transit webpage)

On October 16, 2015, the MBTA Fiscal and Management Control Board approved Authority for Action for the overhaul of 32 additional Kawasaki coaches (750-781) for $32.1 million, increasing the total number of cars to be overhauled to 106.

First group of coaches prepped in October 2012. First five coaches assembled and
placed on Valley Track at BET by 10-27-12. There were 716,739,743,1701 & 1704.

The 766 will be the next car to head to Alstom, leaving the 752, 756, and 780 as the remaining non-rebuilds roaming around.

755 & 775 are on the way back. On NS 16R through Binghamton, NY.

We've had the 755 back for a while, I assume you mean the 753?

Maybe...I forget where I saw the post. Maybe a typo...

You're correct. 753, not 755. Now in East Deerfield.

The 776 back in service as of this past Friday.

The 777 has rejoined the ranks too.

752 is next to get rebuilt. 753 and 775 has returned for testing. Which means 2 original blinds floating around, but not for long.

The 768 has returned for testing, and the 756 and 780 will now be sent out, the last two non-rebuilds to go out.

As of right now, 5 cars are in testing which would mean 8 left once these enter service.

And of those five, it looks like the 750 and 778 have just returned..
