Does anyone know how many/which F40s were repainted into the Phase IV livery? I might be doing an episode of my locomotive documentary series (Remarkable Engines) on them.

Pensyfan,
Please see my album of "mothballed & retired" Amtrak equipment. There were at least three or four of the F40s in that scheme in a deadline at the car shops in Bear, DE. They were all sold and moved in June of last year. I have photos of the locomotives in Bear, as well as Hamilton Township, NJ when they were moved.

Hope this help a bit. Looking forward to another one of your videos!

All F40 paint schemes per unit are shown on on this page at this link.
Scroll down and it shows the F40s paint heritage, III to IV, III to IV to others, etc.

You know what they say, better late than never. Thank you all for providing helpful information about the F40s in the Phase IV, as I was eventually able to complete this project focusing on Amtrak F40PHR #404 in a new series, 404s of the World, which focuses on an engine numbered 404 on a railroad's roster. I included this F40PHR with an E9 of the same number, as it is more convenient to cover both engines on the same railroad rather than hold a separate episode for each. Hope you enjoy!
