With NEGS only locomotive presently off property, does anyone know how the new PLLX unit will move from PAR to it's final home? Will it sit in Concord until VRS returns the 2555 or sends a replacement?

If they don't send a replacement, I'm sure they could lease an engine from PLLX. In the past they've used 302.

PLLX 1001 was brought to Concord by NA-2 crew Tuesday evening and was set out in Concord on the run around track where I saw it Wednesday morning at 0800. NEGS must have come south during the day to pick it up as it was gone by 1745 on a second drive by.

This link was posted in another forum and I saw this blurb, which I believe is related to the plans for sand & gravel originating in Tilton/Belmont, NH.
Lynch Materials ($500,000)
The project will provide assistance in the construction of a railcar unloading facility to improve the sand and gravel supply chain to Eastern Massachusetts. Upon completion of the project, 16,000 truck trips will be removed from area roadways annually. Shipment of sand and gravel by rail will support the construction industry by improving reliability and reducing costs. Lynch Materials is providing a 79% match.
Assuming they're counting each truck coming and going as a separate trip, that's 8,000 trucks' worth of material. Even if that's a wild overestimate, it's still going to be more than a slight uptick in traffic on that line.

About 3600 cars a year.

And that's just one customer....

Is this the same operation that's supposed to build a spur off the south leg at Lowell Junction, or are these shipments, going to another location?

8,000 truck trips is closer to 2,500 rail cars a year. Can fit more than 3 trailer dumps in a rail car at 263. Almost 4 at 286. Nh uses the bridge law formulas for trucks limiting capacity to about 30 tons a truck.

Not an overstatement if switch 100% to rail and eliminate all the truck trips.

Assume you’ll be leasing hoppers. How many will be leased, and will we see dedicated trains like those of Boston Sand & Gravel?

Thanks, we had been trying to figure out the trailer tonnage when we working on some stuff the other day and we had used a 100t car as for the formula not knowing what the lease cars were rated at.

We are still working out the logistics on this as there are some other factors that may make it a mixed over a dedicated train at hand off.

Cars can hold just over 100 tons. I’m pretty sure would be a dedicated train with 40 cars. Im also pretty sure all other traffic heads west at Lowell coming down from nh and these cars would be going east.
