There are 0 cars in Richmond after last nights 394 departure, and no running of the turn job to Southwark, due to only 6 cars being delivered by CN there. I don't think Jay's issues are to blame for a nationwide decline in traffic.

Hello,
Tonight's SLQ eastbound 394 arrived in Island Pond around 1940 with the following:

RM-1 805
GP40-3 3805
QG GP40-2W 3014
9 centerbeam flats
5 covered hoppers
7 boxcars
11 propane cars
9 tank cars

That's 41 cars total, all loads. After spotting 8 loads at RCP, they departed east at 2008.

It is my understanding that they will be running the 390s again tomorrow night.
Best,
Fritz

I caught the train leaving Island Pond on it's trip east a few nights ago.

Hello,
After spotting 7 loads at RCP, last night's SLR eastbound 394 departed Island Pond at 1905 with the following:

GP40 3004
GP40-2 3047
QG GP40-2W 3014
2 centerbeam flats
2 bulkhead flats
6 covered hoppers
11 hi-cube boxcars
1 boxcar
10 tank cars
5 propane cars

That's 37 cars total, including 35 loads and 2 empties.

Today the SLQ westbound 393 departed Island Pond at 0735 with the following:

GP40-3 3804
RM-1 804
GP40-2 3035
GP40-2 3007 (dead in tow)
7 centerbeam flats
2 covered hoppers
5 hi-cube boxcars
7 tank cars
15 propane cars

That's 36 cars total, all empties.

It sounds like the tie gang will be back to work on Sherbrooke Sub on Monday for ten more days.
Best,
Fritz

Hello,
Tonight's SLQ eastbound 394 reached the U.S. border in Norton at 1840 and Island Pond at 1940 with the following:

GP40-3 3803
QG GP40 3105
RLHH SD40-2 3403
8 centerbeam flats
15 propane cars
11 tank cars
18 hi-cube boxcars
1 boxcar
2 covered hoppers

That's 55 cars total, including 52 loads and 3 empties.

The 390s (393 and 394) are generally running 3 nights per week currently, and many of the locals and the road trains to St. Lambert are frequently being canceled. But traffic does seem to be picking up slightly.
Have a great weekend,
Fritz

Looking "big picture" here, what are the SLR's long-term prospects for growth? With CP expanding into Maine, it seems like SLR is in a tough position for capturing through traffic.

Could be that CN reconsiders Intermodal service options in response. Not saying I've heard ant indication of that whatsoever but it does seem rational to assume there will be a response from them to this.

"Those who know better" may have an opinion to the contrary ...

What exactly would they reroute down to Auburn? SLR was only handling a handful of containers a day at best, when CN stopped serving that lane about 6 years ago.

No idea honestly. But then again ... Six years ago CP wasn't in the picture, East Millinocket had only just shutdown, Lincoln, Old Town and Bucksport were still running.

803-3803 went through South Paris eastbound about 1415 this afternoon with an empty rail train consisting of a CP boxcar on the head pin followed by 30 flats with LBFX (L.B. Foster) reporting marks. Thought they might
be delivered to Panam at Danville Jct. but they were shoved into a yard track at Lewiston Jct. instead. Has
SLR been dropping new rail somewhere?

West of S. Paris, I believe, they did most of the NH section east of Groveton last year with new CWR/stone/etc.
