Does anyone know what happend to this GE U34CH? Originally built for the C&NW as 934 it was sold to the NJT and even Metro North for passenger and later work service. Does anyone know what happened to this locomotive? There is a picture of it in a C&NW livery abandoned in Mexico City, Mexico claimed to be taken in early 2003. I do not think this is the same locomotive. I am doing research on this engine for an upcoming project/video I am making.

I agree. You have a pic as CNW in 1974, then many pics from the 1980's in commuter service painted for their new owner.

How would it get back into CNW paint in 2003?

Sorry I can't help more with what happened to that particular unit but I'd bet it did not get painted back into CNW. The engine in Mexico is not the same one.

Ok. Thank you. This engine was also rebuilt from a wrecked C&NW U30C, so that' a bit more info I was able to find about this engine.
