The NEC had a trespasser strike south of Seabrook, MD early this morning around 5:15am Eastern. Unusually, even though the person died, they had the trains back running on restricted speed after 30 minutes to keep an eye out for police investigating. I usually think it'll take at least 3 hours shut down. That said, trains took upwards of a 30 minute delay until the afternoon.

Capitol Limited 29(3) is running 1h50m late due to another trespasser strike in Rockville, MD (around Twin Brook WMATA station).

Amtrak is citing 'host railroad' problems.

Apparently a derailment to today's Empire Builder (operating today as #1007) shortly after departing Chicago. All I know is a Metra tweet reporting a delay on the 2:30pm Milwaukee West train (15 minutes after the Empire Builder departs) due to a derailment on "Amtrak #1007", since updated to say "near Lake Street" (which is near the north end of the terminal trackage and puts it under buildings). Amtrak is reporting a service disruption.

UPDATE: No new information about what happened but out of Glenview a little over seven hours late.

Stick with Amtrak's media center
I looked, but things are getting confirmed by the press before Amtrak’s PR team got it’s pants on.
