I've noticed a good sized pile of new ties, along with some rail in front of the New England Silica brick plant on Route 5 in South Windsor. It looks like some sort of heavy track work is going to be done here. Anyone know if this is a re-build of the existing siding for N.E. Silica or if a new siding or spur is in the works? It looks like the area would be good for a re-load facility....

Also the P&W is coming to Hartford on a weekly basis with loaded construction debris cars for the CSO and taking MT's back to Middletown. The usual day is Thursday....

P&W has been pulling those cars out of Portland CT for a long time.
What changed was a deal finally happened between CT So & them
to allow the interchange in Hartford.

P&W has no other customers on the old "Valley" line, yet,
so it's their only reason to use those tracks (No. of Middletown).

I see this morning that there are ties laid out at intervals along the track near Governer's Highway (Filenes) and south. They are not as far south as I-291.

Yeah-

It looks like the pile of ties at NE silica was destined to the regular branch. Ne silica had fout cars, including a covered hopper, spotted today, the most I've seen in a while but I'm only by there once a week.
