I just got an email with the weekly update on the latest news in the railroad industry from Trains Magazine. One of the headlines said Strasburg acquired a new diesel, number 1235. However, I'm having difficulty accessing my Trains Magazine account. Does anyone know what type of engine 1235 is and who its previous owners were?

It's a rebuilt SW9 from the Santa Fe.

Originally ATSF SW9, built 1953.
Rebuilt by ATSF in 1974, reclassed as model SSB1200, number 1235.
sold to Celanese Corp 1235 in 1987.

cant find a photo online yet of the actual unit, but they look fairly unmodified, externally:

I know the response, and the answer is no, Strasburg's new diesel is sadly not operating.
