CMQ Motive power

GP20D's and AC44's aren't exactly comparable power and certainly won't be used in the same service. It's likely that the GP20's are holdovers until another motive power deal is delivered upon.

I agree on that. Sorry ment I’m my last post that the GP20D’s would more then likely end up on the Bangor and Newport Subdivision with B23-7 (2003 and 2004). This would free up the GP38-3 / GP38M-3 and GP35U to help the SD40F and SD40-2 on the Millinocket, Moosehead, Stanbridge and Sherbrooke Subdivision.

Or maybe even more likely, they're being stored at Derby.

Not rumored, they are for the CMQ.

Potentially more once the CP lease on the other CEFX units expires in May. We'll have to wait and see how they work out.

Yesterday 1006 was reviled to the public. Looks great in a CMQ paint scheme based off of the BAR E7 paint scheme. One thing that I noted from Kevin Burkholder Facebook live stream of the revile was that CMQ is Leasing 4 more GP38 from CITX on top of the AC4400CW.

He had nothing to do with the design of the paintscheme, only working on its implementation. He certainly knows how to sell his brand.

Although he did design the corporate scheme for the GP's/Barns; he based it off the old CP scheme.

I'm aware of that, I was speaking strictly of the paintscheme on the AC44's. The principal design work was done outside the company and then handed off for completion. Mr. Burkholder himself had nothing to do with the design of the newest version of the CM&Q scheme which will cover the AC44 fleet. Only the implementation, working with CAD to take the design from technical drawings to completion.

Who is painting the CMQ loco's Derby ? If so what a talented bunch. A few of the red barns were absolutely scabrous and they looked factory fresh after a trip to the paint booth. I don't care for the modern GE's they sound like cabbage choppers although this one looks brand new also. FWIW

The SD40-2F's were painted at Derby, but by outside contractors. They did do a good job.
The GP38-3's were painted at the rebuild shop (CAD did the first one, then the contract was moved to a stateside rebuilder for the other 3 units), and the quality seems ok, but they got a noticeably lighter shade of blue.
The AC44CW's were overhauled and painted at CAD.
