I do wonder how long that Tibet railway will prove viable if the warming trend affects the permafrost.

They may have to increase the refrigeration of the permafrost. Hopefully they use solar power to do it.

If it melts seriously, the whole length of the track may twist and sink. The same would be the case in some of the new Russian lines into the Arctic regions. And also in Alaska. I don't think these are fantasies.
