What happens if they want to double-track (for rabid-transit conversion?)

Then they rip those new poles out and put up new ones.

What, you honestly expect the T to plan ahead for such things?

The entire roadbed would be dug up and relaid, all wayside infrastructure would be cleared out, and 600v transmission lines plus ATO signaling hardware would be dropped. A few wooden poles is not going to hinder such a massive undertaking that has not even been entertained in any preliminary proposals or capital investment plans.

Looks like the hand throw switch for the layover yard lead at the Needham Heights station is getting propane heating.

And, in other news, Sunday service has been instituted today on the Needham line with he Christmas Express (sponsored by St. Joseph Elementary School & Monsignor Haddad Middle School of Needham). Four round trips will board Sunday afternoon at Needham Center and run to the North Pole (aka W Rox according to Keolis crew).

We were nearby to Needham Center station that evening and there were hundreds of families getting on/off the train, all appeared to be much happier than the usual Needham line customers do.
