As of 9:05 AM, the above-mentioned NS #911 is reported heading west on train #205 at Mentor, OH. Generally speaking,
doesn't NS ping-pong the power a few times on trains 205/206? Hopefully we'll see #911 back in NY State again on 206.

Sometimes they will run the power on multiple trips back and forth, but not always the case. If 911 comes back on 206 it will terminate at Buffalo and then who knows what its next assignment will be.

Oh that's right, I forgot 205/206 originate and terminate at Buffalo now. Guess I better plan to set-up west of Buffalo
if I plan to get a shot of it -- of course, that's IF it turns on 206 again.

NS 205 and 206 have been spotted east of Buffalo over the past month or so on an irregular basis, but it's probably a much safer bet to set-up west of Buffalo.

BTW, the LV unit was on NS 23K today, as the 2nd unit of 3. Already long gone, though.

After spending several days in greater Buffalo, the Pennsy unit #8102 is leading NS 310 today. The train was last seen in Gang Mills a little over an hour ago, awaiting a fresh crew -as per the HU website.

The Pennsy unit #8102 led NS 310 through Owego about 20 minutes ago.

Norfolk Southern #1069 (Virginian) is leading CSX train Q384 en route to Selkirk. Last reported in Cleveland as of 4:51 PM
eastern time (Heritage Units Website), so it'll make its way across Western NY under the cover of darkness.

It's crazy how quickly their power gets all over the place!

Q384 must have done work in Cleveland or Buffalo (both?), because the 1069 went through the Rochester area
around 7:30 this morning. For those with Facebook, there are a couple good shots from people who got out early
this morning.

The N&W unit is trailing on NS 310 today. The train was on the Lake Erie District last night, so #8103 should be on the Tier now.

Matt, you seem to stay on top of these units so I gotta ask - has western NY seen all the heritage units yet at one time or another, or are there still a few which have not showed up around here?
  by Matt Langworthy

In terms of the original heritage units such as LV, Erie, PC, CNJ, etc. the answer is yes -all of them have visited NY. Some of the other special/heritage NS units listed on http://www.heritageunits.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; haven't been here yet. This includes a couple of the specially painted DC to AC units and EL SD45-2 #1700.

Well, if the B&O heritage unit with the blue, gray and black-and-gold stripes ever comes along, I might have to go see that one! Think EHH will go for that?

I think I have a better chance of winning the Megamillions three times in a row and walking on the moon, than EHH authorizing a B&O heritage unit.

Getting back to NS, there is a chance that the N&W unit may stick around Binghamton for a while. NS often cycles power from 310 into the locals before sending the unit(s) west on 309.

I know I'm late, but yesterday evening had not one but two heritage units on the Tier. NS 309 took #911 west as the 3rd unit, while NS 37T had the CNJ unit #1071 (not leading). Obviously, #911 won't be back for a while... but #1071 went to greater Buffalo. NS 36T is one of several possibilities for the CNJ unit's next assignment.
