Apparently a late night derailment occurred on Freight Main in Shelburne Falls/Buckland. Unsure of status, ie cars off, track related damage, cause etc, but will post as news develop.

- Guilford Rail System changed its name to Pan Am Railways in 2006. Discussion relating to the current operations of the Boston & Maine, the Maine Central, and the Springfield Terminal railroads (as well as the Delaware & Hudson while it was under Guilford control until 1988). at least two cars are off of what i am assuming is west end of east bound grain train on siding/north track/ 2 by CP 398. potential significant track damage including two road crossings and one turnout from dragging car wheels for at least 1/2 mile west of where cars are on ground. tipped cars are also blocking south/main 1 track.

#1 trk is always north trk, at least west of deerfield.

Looks like in retrospect Pan Am's decision to raise the gates after the derailed train cleared the Elm St crossing wasn't the best idea...
But the idea of calling MEMA every time a train goes into "emergency" and must be stopped for a walked inspection sounds unworkable.
But there is a very nice photo of state Rep. Stephen Kulik!
