Interesting choice. Hopefully his experience with capital planning will mean NJT is preparing for big advances in the coming years, and wanted someone with capital experience at the helm. Better than a bus executive!

" Better than a bus executive!" Somebody said the same thing when Dennis Martin became interim executive director. Actually NJT carries more people by bus than by train.

Apparently NJT Rail makes much more money than bus, however the bus division carries many more people.

Taken from page 7 of Management's discussion and analysis in the 2015 annual report
On NJT light rail is part of Bus Operations.
I've edited this for clarity. Here's a link to the report. http://www.njtransit.com/pdf/NJTRANSIT_ ... Report.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
You can also find it i the NJT public website, at the bottom, "About Us," then "Anual report & financial statement."

Not sure what was the point in appointing an Executive Director now. Wouldn't a new Governor appoint a new Transportation commissioner who will appoint a new NJT boss? Isn't this what normally happens when a new governor starts a new term? So then the new director effectively has a little more than one year left to serve?

He will have a short time in office,as he will face the NTSB the state house and senate critters in Trenton ,and any
congress critter hearings on the Hoboken wreck.
Gov Christie wont let him do the work needed to fix the problems at NJT.

The new Director was dealing with the FRA when this state critter meeting was called,the "Chairman" of NJT had to deal
with the state critters,not well according to the times article
