There's been a few occasions of trains rolling around with rear ditch lights blinking as well, but maybe that should go in another thread!
So "few occasions " equals sloppy work. How many trains a day does SEPTA operate ? How many run with headlights or flashing ditch lights on the rear ? Give me a percentage please. Maybe any engineer who does this should be fired. That's probably the most important part of an engineer's job, turning off the headlights and ditch lights on the rear of the train.

Take it easy there South Jersey Budd. I'm sure most of us here understand that all of us make minor mistakes on a pretty regular basis. Also when I started this thread it wasn't to flame anyone. It was to learn about different railroads' operating practices, a good subject for this forum.

BuddR32, thanks for that explanation of LIRR's headlight history. Makes perfect sense. :-)
