I read somewhere about either the Naugy, or the New Hartford Branch of the New Haven and Northampton was supposed to be extended into Mass. I guess it was either Pittsfield, or maybe a connection to the western somewhere near the New York line. Does anyone know anything about it?

It was the latter --- and not only that, but the entire proposed line was surveyed, and some of the grading was actually done around 1880 between Otis and New Boston, Mass. It can still be seen, replete with short cuts and bridge abutments. A little locally-written book was done about this around twenty years ago; it's very rare, but I've managed to find a copy of it. I'll try to locate it and share a few details.

I've looked on Google Earth, but what was in New Hartford? After many hundreds of trips on Route 44, the abutment is next to the road, just east of town, and the CW abutment. What was across the river?
