Both carriers have them, as long as you don't mind standing. Best time to get an open cab car on Metra is during rush hours, but be advised looking out the front window can be subject to conductor discretion.

As a side note, the new highliner cars going in service on the electric district have a front "railfan window" similar to those on the diesel lines...

I took this video out the front of the new South Shore 300-series which have the same view out the front as any gallery car.

That signal does not display a lunar, it may have just looked like it in the video.

On the gallery cars, are the windows upstairs by the cab or downstairs at the door that is used for connecting cars?
