2015 Commuter Rail Delay Discussion Thread

One of the more interesting alerts I've seen:
Haverhill Line Train 210 (9:05 am from Haverhill) delayed weekdays 15 to 25 minutes at Andover and Balladvale through Fri Oct 23 due to conflict with Amtrak

It's been ongoing due to the re-route of midday Haverhill trains to the Wildcat during tie replacement on the Western Route through Reading and Wakefield. 210 normally clears WJ by continuing west on the Western Route just before eastbound Amtrak 681 comes off the Wildcat. During the reroute, they've been holding 210 in Lawrence to await 681's passage. Since 210 runs non-stop after Ballardvale, it more than easily makes up the time (well, hopefully it does - the one day I rode it we certainly did!).

They do the same run with the 1:10 but stupidly let the Lowell-bound 1:10 thru first so the Haverhill train basically has to make all the same West Medford/Winchester/Woburn stops as the Lowell train.

Yes, it's a little frustrating.

That makes sense. It was an alert I've never seen, that's for sure.

According to a fellow commuter, the reroutes have been interesting. There were not changes made to the published timetables, so the commuters that don't have a conflict end up running very early. This commuter often takes 211 (3:00 PM outbound) on Fridays. He's said they usually spend in the ballpark of 10-15 minutes sitting at Ballardvale since the full 43 minutes in the schedule isn't needed when running non-stop via the Lowell Line and Wildcat. Should have made those L stops outbound on some of those trains.

Needham Line Train 629 (7:10 pm from South Station) delayed today due to switch problem. Passengers will be bussed from Needham Center to Needham Heights. 15-20 min

Over a dozen T-alerts this morning with "Amtrak switch problems," likely at Canton Junction. Many of the early inbounds were making RTE on Track 1. Delays were 10-20 minutes on numerous Providence/Stoughton trains.

Another midguided tractor trailer at High Street crossing in West Medford this morning.

Lowell Line Trains 311 (9:10 am from North Station) and 358 (9:15 am from Anderson/ Woburn) delayed today due to truck broken down on crossing at High Street West Medford update to follow

092 is now being affected

Greenbush Line Train 092 (8:10 pm from Greenbush) delayed today 30-40 minutes due to police action. Watch for updates.

Looks like its going to be a long night for the old colony lines tonight...

Not only that, but the Red Line also. I think it's been 3 cancelled trains so far

Service alerts are up. D-3 acknowledged 400's 0530 report of engine troubles at North Leominster, and 0656, Boston West or Fitchburg said that 402 was having engine troubles at South Acton.
