Was waiting for the 4:18 at Allendale today I noticed an intresting consist. A double decker set being led a by the Alstom as normal, with a GP 40 engine in the rear facing east. I know when they move equiptment they put the engins next to eaxh other. Any body ever seen thia or know why it was done like this. Have a pic

From Facebook, the engine was put on because of a bad cab car.

Oh. I thought those engines couldn't pull the double deckers

I thought geeps didn't have enough HEP for a MLV train as long as NJT typically operates. Being based on a freight locomotive, I'm sure they could physically pull a very long string of MLV..

Firstly, yes they can. Just not many and not that particular unit.
Secondly, there was a PL42 on the other end.
