Fairly famously, GE loco 70012 for Freightliner was dropped while unloading it from the ship in the UK. It suffered a bent frame and sat at the docks for a good while before being shipped back to US. Does anyone know what happened to it back at GE? was it stripped for parts or rebuilt in any way?

Once the frame is bent, it is pretty much impossible to fix it properly. 70012 was probably stripped of any usable parts and scrapped.

It came back to Erie and had quite a bit of work done to it as a test sled. GE didn't have a demo or spare in the US for testing and trouble shooting. I knew a few people who were working on it before my wife transferred from GE trans to GE Healthcare.
