Maine TIGER 2-15 grant application

Maine DOT has submitted "Maine Regional Railways Project" for $22.4 million in federal funding.

They could save some coin by salvaging the Mountain Sub for relay rail and ties.

Because Maine needs to move more people by rail, to places like Freyburg and Dover-Foxcroft Cowford!!!

There was not a lot of rail heavier than 85 lb. on the Mountain Division. Only Seashore and the 2-footers would be greatly interested in anything that light, and the ties are 30 years old at best.

Somebody's got to sprinkle magic pixie dust on the Lewiston Industrial for all that big, big business just waiting to relocate there.


Maybe all the mostly-dead MEDOT branchlines can all share joint custody of the same newish unused stick? Like...Mountain gets it in leap years, Lower Road gets it in years evenly divisible by 3, World's Loneliest Baked Beans Delivery route gets it every time Mars is at inferior conjunction, and Lewiston wins the tiebreak when any of the others overlap.

Surprise no one has more to say about this project considering it's probably one of the most important in State history.
