Some of you may have this video, on Walter Berko's cabride on the Raritan Line to Harrison Yard in 1984 you can hear on the cab car radio both Conrail chatter and Transit chatter seemingly on the same channel. You can hear Terminal tower at Hoboken, and the dispatcher talking trains by Summit (from the sounds of things it was broken). Then closer into Newark you hear an operator or dispatcher give someone authority between WA-5 and Kearny and North Bergen mentioning something about a transfer to the Susquehanna. Hunter tower also talks to the train Berko is riding telling them to bring it in slow because he has to get a Metroliner ("Metro") by.

This seems like a lot sharing one radio channel. And what about Amtrak?

The Hoboken Division has always been on AAR 086 - 161.400 since the Erie Lackwanna days. Hoboken Terminal used to be a part of it, but there was just too much chatter so the terminal was in recent years put on AAR 052 - 160.890.
