So Last night Fox29 aired a exclusive look at NPT at SEPTA HEADQUARTERS. I must say them going through the process and seeing how it will come together has me FIRED UP.
Now i've used the new faregates at Dilworth Plaza the first day i went down there my transpass was denied and the system will let you know...big beep sound....the second day i was able to get through it turned green. Now the look in the video did not mention anything about ride limitations or anything. They did not speak on Regional Rail ofcourse lol thats the nastiest one of all.

Cash will still be accepted on the RRD. Check out the NPT approved tariff:

it's so weird seeing Newtown, West Chester and Pottstown on that tariff listed as zone 4...
like...they were planning to expand there or something

I wonder if removing them is tantamount to abandonment?

I didn't look it up, but at face value suppose it is. DVARP and others argued strenuously against zone elimination, but that tariff for NPT was approved nearly 2 years ago.

Do you want to rehash it today?

Why would anyone pay $16 to go from Langhorne to Doylestown? Driving would be much cheaper and faster.

Remember, SEPTA's stated intent is to "get cash off the trains". $16 makes the current surcharge look (sort of) reasonable.

I wonder just what percentage of SEPTA's ridership doesn't have reasonable access to some other form of payment. My guess is it's not high but is mostly concentrated among people at the low end of the economic spectrum. Another instance of the "poor tax" ...
