Landslide at 26th and Charles streets

A retaining wall along a city street gave way in a landslide just before Wednesday's evening commute, carrying cars and mud onto a train track below.

The landslide happened near 26th and Charles streets around 4 p.m. Wednesday.

A Baltimore police officer said he saw mud coming through cracks in the street moments before the ground gave way.

Will disrupt CSX's I-95 corridor traffic until the mess is cleared.

What would be the detour route around this?

Depends on where the northbound traffic is originating, where it's going, and what "arrangements" CSX has with NS. An all CSX option would probably involve crossing NYS on the Water Level Route, down the River Line to NJ and south from there. More timely option might be up the Met Sub, back to Hagerstown, up NS to Harrisburg and east or south on NS trackage from there.

Only train that has been detoured was the Northbound Juice train that ran via Hagerstown.

Rumor has it that track will be back in service about Midnight + or-.

Traffic resumed going through this morning from what I've heard. I heard BE dispatcher giving an EC-1 to Q031 to go across the Belt Line and heard it sounding it's horn when it came around Huntingdon Avenue.
