Thanks for posting that link!!!
Comments:
(1) So, does attaining 35% adhesion need some pretty sophisticated control electronics?
(2) I want to see an article in "Model Railroader" or "Railroad Model Craftsman" explaining how to kit bash an HO model of this critter before the end of the year!

The company website: http://members.shaw.ca/tractivepower/in ... age_id=110" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

And, their brochure (PDF): http://members.shaw.ca/tractivepower/br ... 0401_A.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Sounds like a lot of money to spend for what you get, but it's certainly a clever idea.

And it's cute as heck! LOL

Did anyone else notice that the end of the critter's long hood is nearly identical to the nose of CSX's SD40-3 rebuilds?

Compare:

I'm pretty sure that is the new company founded by Frank Donnely, who founded Railpower and designed the Green Goat and Genset models.
He holds a patent for reusing SD series locomotive components to build industrial "critters":

This could be a good way to reuse old C30-7 trucks, and their reliable GE traction motors.

Probably not the exact unit shown in the earlier photos (text says that three of this tip have been built) but a similar critter seems to have found a home:

One of two on something called "Curry Rail Services," based at the ex-PRR Samuel Rea carhops in Hollidaysburg PA. This one has a 400hp, Tier-4 compliant, Caterpillar engine.
