Bangor Daily News wrote:Deputies from the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office are on the scene of a train derailment that has shut down traffic near the intersection of Coldbrook and Bog roads, emergency dispatchers have confirmed.

The Pan Am Railways derailment occurred shortly before 4:30 p.m., according to dispatchers from the Penobscot County Communications Center. No injuries have been reported.

The affected roads are expected to be closed for three to four hours.

Given the increased frequency on that section of D1 of MMA reroute traffic something had to give.

I doubt that rerouted traffic had anything significant to contribute to the derailment. The tracks were just in terrible shape as it was, it's something that was bound to happen, rerouted traffic or not.
