Ulster County Sheriff's deputies and detectives are investigating the collision of a train and pickup truck in the Town of Saugerties, which resulted in the death of the truck driver. The crash occurred around 6:15 this morning at the railway intersection of a private road off Old Kings Highway in Mt. Marion.

That would explain some of the references to a "crossing" this AM on my scanner, the outlawed train in Kingston and frequent calls to "Mobile 87" (Wayne Deyo, the Kgn. Yardmaster). Worse yet, I knew the man who was killed. :(

Thanks, Adam. The local paper had a lengthy article about the victim, who was to retire in 4 months. Ironically, his wife is a spokesperson for N.E. Solite (one X-ing south of the accident scene), whose Tissal Rd. crossing (ungated) has seen many train-truck accidents in recent years.
