The permitting process in this day and age certainly is a formidable obstacle. It takes a lot more than sheer will to lay down new rails, let alone replacing past routes.
The new rail trail starts at the grade crossing by MP 82, right at the new Wassaic station. The rail trail runs alongside the fence keeping people off the active rails, then rejoins the ROW somewhere north of MP 83. I can say this for the new rail trail- it affords me a new evening photo opportunity at the north end of the yard.
