This was mentioned in another thread, but I still am surprised that no one else has brought this up since all three were in the media, though the carrier did a good job of covering them up.
Except for one the two hazmat spills were hidden from the general pubic because of location with a yard.

Last week a RCO (Remote Control Operator) 'Humper' derailed just west of the Thruway around 4am tipping at least two loaded auto racks on their sides. The total was 11 cars and the RCO is being blamed for it (from all reports so far). Kind of hard to see/feel whats going on 1 mile away!

Last Firday morning around 9am Q366 whilke pulling into Seneca yard at CP 5 off 3 main to the receiving yard derailed the 2nd and 3rd units and the first 5 cars. The 2nd unit had it's fuel tank ruptured and spilled most of it's fuel (that was just fuled in Collingwood). The train activated the detector at Rogers Road, but it is unknown if the hit was inspected or they just werte told to drag it down to Seneca. The cause was either a broken axle or broken wheel. The fuel idid not make it into Smokes Creek though.

Sunday morning around 7:25a while pulling off track 53, 5 cars derailed, two being tanks with flamable liguids, one leaking (four gallons a hour). There was a partial evacuation of the area for a few hours, but that was all. The head of the rail broke under movement and two switches were destroyed. This was within 200' of a previous derailment due to a broken bolster pin where the car was dragged 30 car lengths before anyone spotted it and knocked down two utitity poles and damaged 10 switch stands!

Winters is cashing in!

Bruce, was there a utility man in the RC engine? or did they change that practice? I also heard that they have removed the RC units from Selkirk, from a conductor friend stationed there.
