The Alexander Railroad is an 18 mile shortline between Statesville and Taylorsburg, NC.

Their website:

Here is their roster page:

They have two S-3s: #6 and #7.

Pictures of the railroad are here at Railpictures.Net:

They recently bought an EMD SW1500, but the Alcos will be kept on the roster.

The end of the Alco era on the Alexander Railroad is imminent.

ARC's new SW1500's #11 and #12 are on their way to Taylorsville, all with a new
paint scheme: http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPi ... id=3207785

Yes, this will spell the end of the Alcos; however, they are being
preserved.

#6 is going to the SE Shortline & NG Museum in Newton,NC.

#7 is coming to the Alexander Chapter-NRHS and thence to the Craggy Mtn RR where it will remain
operational in Alexander RR paint.

Good to hear both will be saved. #7 was built for the PRR, I hoped it might end up back north, but this is just as good. Here's #7 just before it was sold by PC:
