The Portland-Waterville / Waterville-Portland trains are seeing some pretty nice (and exotic) power lately in the form of BNSF Dash 9s being "kept busy" between oil train runs. Photographer W. David Anderson got a nice shot of three BNSF units on the point of WAPO as the train passed Mercy Hospital's Fore River campus recently: http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPi ... id=3112564

Still not seeing any "Heritage 3" units in Maine. Two SD70-ACe's and blue dip would do just fine.

Check out the blazing speeds on this WAPO with BNSF power:

If GRS = Going Real Slow, does PAR = Puttering Along Railway?

Or...

PAR = Phlegmatic & Apathetic Railroad
ST = Sluggish & Tortoiselike

Works for me. Probably not the case for Billerica.

I've seen a lot of Auburn action live and that was one of the slowest I've seen. Slower than the LOT's as I try to recall their speed.

Right?! I was thinking to myself, "Hey, 25, that's not bad" ... followed by "Glad he caught that on video, it'll be back to 10 in a year." :wink:

Keep in mind that it's easier to shoot videos of the trains where it's 10 versus where it's 25. The shot at Hacketts is 10 because they hadn't cleared the Poland switch yet, and the shot at Lewiston is 10 due to Court St. being 10, and having to stop and protect Strawberry Ave.

They usually do pick up some speed either way after they pass Court St
