That pretty much tells the story. Information that have heard is that CN had 30 these assigned to the IC for business reasons. Of course, these are not the first "comfort cabs" that CN has assigned to the IC.

Obviously the IC must still exist as a separate subsidiary if the CN is going to great lengths to subletter new units or ones that were owned by neither IC or CN. The blue C40-8W's were originally leased by LMS to Conrail.

The LMS units ran on CN for a while as well.

Do you think those ex-LMS locos are going to be repainted into the current CN paint scheme anytime soon?
