I can't believe that we all forgot Pennsy, which had trackage rights on the Erie/EL in Elmira to connect segments of the Elmira Branch. Didn't L&HR and NH units occasionally operate on EL near Maybrook? Reading power also appeared on EL on occasion, as they interchanged at Rupert, PA.

I think he meant U34CHs, so his error is forgiven, IMO. We know what he means.

I was out of the commuter district by then and the 33's and 36's were common in freight and 34 was unheard of in freight! CH was a foreign term to me, too!!!

U34CHs saw weekend service on freight trains. NJT put some restrictions on their use after a unit was damaged in a collision.

NJT did not exist in the EL days, having been created in 1983
The NJ Department of Transportation purchased the U-boats for EL's commuter service as a means of subsidizing it
