Are those yard lines by the sag eventually suppose to continue into the old Pilgrim state? Was just wondering as all the buildings are being demolished.

That is where they should of made more tracks where you have the room. The Pilgrim spur rehabbed could be 70+ cars. Even along the back track one switch would of added like another 30 cars with room to drill cars towards the East derail. The small yard is more maintenance with more switches and not nearly the capacity if things took off out East between Calverton and BRT. The work may be state work though that was preapproved some years ago....

I agree with freightguy a better alternative would have been another track adjacent to the Back Track, but the problem has always been that wooded land is considered "parkland" by the state and can not be developed...

Anyone know when the Pine-Aire model railroad will be finished ????? Perhaps the time, effort & funding would've been better utilized restoring the west end of the siding to the Main Line to service. Hmmm.....

It probably is a logistical nightmere with the west end out. Thinking about this now if the "yard" is connected on the Sagtikos and East(backtrack) end it may help the crews, but not really capacity. Not to get into switching dynamics, but the 50/60 comes in the end they may be able to set over cars and switch without having to split the engines and use the crowded backtrack to set out cars. Just like a "model railroad" the will have a clear alley albeit small to runaround stuff. Also head room to switch on both ends of the so called yard.

Passed there Saturday morning. Looks like it's almost all complete. No cars in there yet though.

Looked this evening like it's done. No contractor's equipment to be seen.
