Well wont this make it an interesting Labor Day weekend for CSX. Hopefully no one was injured. Does anyone know yet what the cause of the derailment was yet?

I bet CSX is regreting ever takeing the Schuyler detector out now. Not that I'm hinting at anything. It would be intresting to know what made this small mess happen.

Heard from a friend in the area who is "generally in the know" that they
were looking at a broken rail. This does not surprise me a bit, CSX has
cut way back on track maintenance and this line has extremely heavy
freight traffic.
Incidentally, this is one of the things that started Penn Central on the way
downhill. Hope that we are not having a repeat.
I made a trip north from Richmond not too long ago and I remember how
rough the former R.F. & P. was to ride. Years ago it rode as smooth as
silk.
It is a shame that so many great railroads combined into such a failure.

Yes Noel, they have many secions of 10mph restrictions on 25mph secondaries in the eastern side of Selkirk too. Fortunately they are doing parts of the B&A over.

And I have heard some of the old heads say that they are seeing Penn Central days all over again. :(
