I'm hoping someone on this board can help in identifying what type of product would come in or out of a "Phosphate Works"? My assumption is that a phosphate works in NY state would be different than a phospahate works in, say Florida, where it is mined and shipped up north.

I also think of it as a place that made fertilizer but I guess other chemical industry-uses are possible.

Anyone out there that used to have (or still do) a phosphate works in their town and know what it did?

At this point I'm not sure what the rail traffic was, what type of cars were switched or how often but I need to start somewhere. Thanks.

Phosphates were once used in the production of gunpowder and explosives, but only til about World War 1 so that may be one of the uses at this phosphate works depending on the period.

oh yeah, i'll try to send you that photo of the Milo Station station sometime this coming week.

Good clue as the business I'm looking at went out by WWI. Thanks!
