petrol tax rises in New Zealand

The government has added another 5 cents per litre tax to the cost of gas in New Zealand . Abit surprising as this is an election year . Obviously theyre not expecting to much protest , as it has been made clear the tax will go directly to fixing roads . and to public transport projects .

Apparently Cars pay around 64 % of their actual cost to the country , (Accidents etc ) . trucks 50 % , and rail 86% .
