It's a reuse of a former ATSF branch, the San Jacinto Sub and would possibly connect with OREM to boot :P ,
I-215 is congested nightmare at times, but Orange county is very car-centric which if
Robert Moses was still alive, would push to the bitter end.

All this over a toad?? The branch already exists, seems like the "extreme treehuggers" will fight anything
that will help air quality short term and long term.

Deal frees Metrolink Perris Valley Line | Railway Age
A Riverside County, Calif.-based environmental group has dropped its lawsuit against a proposed 24-mile Metrolink rail extension, the Perris Valley Line, citing concessions being offered that are amenable to its concerns. ...

The group, Friends of Riverside's Hills, told local media it had obtained concessions worth about $3 million, involving noise reduction, hiking trails, and biking facilities.
The $232.7 m project still needs final approval of a $75 m Federal grant and formal withdrawal of the lawsuit, but if those events come soon, then the project's construction could start by late this summer.

The Metrolink trains are on the track. And it won’t be long now before fare-paying passengers are climbing aboard.

This past weekend, though, there was important work to be done as groups of signalmen, flaggers, engineers and construction representatives spread out along the northern half of the Perris Valley Line to test equipment at 10 grade crossings on the soon-to-be opened 24-mile Metrolink extension.

Shortly after 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 31, a Metrolink train with six cars – and zero passengers – came zipping past the platform at the Hunter Park Station. Estimated speed: 30 mph. Bells sounded, lights blinked and two long metal arms fell into place, blocking traffic heading each way on Marlborough Avenue.

That's what I was hoping. There are so many museums that because of their location can't be reached by public transportation, and better accessibility should certainly increase the number of visitors.

Downtown Perris is indeed the closest, but it's quite a hike to the museum entrance – almost two miles.

According to the Museum, apparently they do plan to extend service to the Metrolink train station. Not sure whether those plans are still on track.
