Power is NS2615/9959 followed by HLCX6225/6415/6407/6410/6408/6403. The first of the leasers is an SD40-2 in Helm blue-red, the next one's a rebuilt SD45 in Huntington red, the 7-10-8 are all ex-Trona SD45-2s in patched Trona paint, and the finale is a blue-red SD45 rebuild.

I'm told Pan Am Purchased them.

lirrelectrician wrote:They are not Pure SD-45s. They were rebuilt to SD40-2 standards with a 16 cylider 645 engine instead of the 20 cylider. They do however have the SD45 flared radiators. PAR 601 is one such example already.

I think your correct,Mike. I'd be shocked otherwise.

Tell the rail.net I said HLCX 6225 is not one they are supposed to buy. It has been sent to NS to run off HP hrs for PANAM. It is already being leased by PANAM for year now. Gary

You'd think with all these "new" locomotives rolling onto the property, the power situation would have somewhat stabilized, yet just today was told by someone in the Trans Dept that the power situation is real bad right now (as is the crew situation). Was also told that a lot of this new 6-axle power is in pretty bad shape and that some of these units may be canibilized pretty quickly to keep the other ones going.
