I cannot beleive that those goons at Guiliford aka the Valujet of Trains IMO has bastardized a once proud name like Pan Am. This is the airline that helepd so many countrys all over the world not only build their own international airports but starting their own national carriers. It's Pan am that opened up service across everywhere in the world for the American Public. They are the ones that came up with the 707 and 747 with Boeing. They were the true Kings of the Skies. They had class. You will no longer find that in the skies with the likes of Northwest, Delta, American, Air Tran, etc. The closest you'll find an american Carrier even remotely to Pan Am is Continental.

Juan T Trippe is spinning in his grave seeing David Fink and these cronies mess up his name. If he were alive he would send a hit team to guiliford HQ for be smearching a once proud name that everyone around the world knew and swore by and grace aircraft and airprots world wide not to mention was a pioneer in the aviation industry. Many current technologies used today and in the future wouldn't have been possible without Pan Am.

They are a disgrace in Trenton and everywhere else this outfit touches. As a child growing up in the 1980s I have many good memories with them flying back and fourth from their JFK Hub to England, France, Italy, Germany, India, Puerto Rico and many other destinations.

Sorry if this gets a bit off topic, but I had to respond to the inclusion of AirTran in the previous post. I have flown numerous airlines for many years. In the past decade I have come to find AirTran to be excellent in terms of service and equipment. Their fleet is one of the newest in the US, and I don't ever recall being unreasonably late, left at an airport due to overbooking, or greeted by surly employees, all things that are pretty much the norm at most airlines these days. This is an exceptionally well run airline, and I fly them whenever possible (most recently in February). Another outstanding airline is WestJet in Canada which I have taken quite a few times from Montreal to Calgary. And no, I have no financial interest in either. I just want to give credit where it is due.

Not sure where to put this, but...
Another sign of the airlines demise. Pan Am's on airport low profile fuel truck was seen leaving Pease and heading south on I-95 aboard a trailer truck the other day.

Latest NorthPoint news:
A Delaware Court has ordered Boston and Maine Corp. to pay millions in damages and transfer its fee interest in the massive North Point development project to its former business partner, Cambridge North Point LLC.
...
The June 17 order, handed down by the Court of Chancery in Delaware, requires B&M to pay $3.5 million plus interest for failing to follow through on a prior legal settlement with Cambridge North Point in 2008. B&M disputed the $3.5 million payment from the outset, arguing that it was duped when it agreed to sign the 2008 settlement.

From the LA Times.

Bet most of you didn't know they were in the travel bag and accessories bussiness, known as Pan Am Brands. Reference is made to the parent company, and the explanation for the airline failure being "post 9/11" which seems to be the ultimate fallback excuse for anything that didn't quite pan out.

I saw these items for sale in the gift shop at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum.

Under the context of the bygone erra of commercial flight, and considering what a great job the museum does of romanticizing the industry, it was pretty tempting to pick something up...

In yesterday's Boston Globe:
Boston Globe wrote:A new team of investors is set to resume construction of the massive NorthPoint development, a $2 billion mini-city between Cambridge and Boston that will bring thousands of new homes, a shopping complex, and offices to a former rail yard.

The 44-acre project, stalled since 2007 because of legal and financial issues, is one of the biggest in the state and promises to transform a huge swath of vacant industrial land into a new neighborhood along the MBTA’s Green Line, whose planned extension through Somerville will start at the property’s edge.
...
The new development team includes a California investment fund backed by former Los Angeles Lakers star Earvin “Magic’’ Johnson, who appeared at an event on the property yesterday to formally relaunch NorthPoint with the mayors of Cambridge and Somerville.

Yes, the airline has been gone since 2008.

Also, the company hasn't been "Guilford" since 2006.

Could not find a suitable thread for this.

The lone light tower standing that kept guard of this once bustling Boston & Maine rail yard was taken down today via crane. This was the tall one which was nearly touching the Gilmore Bridge. Not many vestiges left of freight left...
