:( While researching the Mexican thru train topic, I came across a listing in a Missouri Pacific timetable "equipment" section (for the "Texas Eagle"):
"Coaches: St. Louis to Houston (Divided)"
"Divided" was used several times when mentioning coaches.
Anyone know what "divided" means in this regard?

A divided coach is a segregated coach
The interior was configured as a divided coach, that is, with a partition segregating white and colored passengers, and separate toilet facilities for each section.

Thanks for the info Nate the Great, although now that I know, I wish I didn't. I tried and tried to reason out an explanation, but that never crossed my mind. Some days I can be so naive.
