Oil reclamation tanks are certainly a common fixture on older EMD locomotives, in particular 645-powered units, but appear to be visually absent from the newer models. Are the tanks no longer required on the newer models, or have they been relocated elsewhere on the locomotive out of sight?

Thanks.

On newer locomotives its either a tank on top of Fuel tank or a seperate compartment tank as part of Fuel tank.
its usually labeled waste fluid tank or wast oil tank.

That wouldn't have something to do with the airbox drain, would it?

EMD refers to it as the retention tank, usually 100 gallons capacity at the rear end of the fuel tank. Some use round engine handhole covers for cleanout access that can be seen on the tank rear end. They became standard in the late 70's IIRC.
