It certainly appears in better shape than the two ex-Canadian National cars we operate. The 1009 arrived at Ringoes from Flemington over the weekend as part of the Sunday freight consist. The two most critical restoration steps are to patch a leak in the roof at one spot and to replace the glazing in the windows. The present glazing is almost opaque. Beyond that we think its mostly attention to details, nothing significant mechanically (hope hope hope!).

It took a car inspector that long to notice? Interesting...

It took the first NS car inspector to see it less than 30 seconds to notice.

The "problem" was caught in Allentown.

NS wanted to haul it back to the D-L at Scranton, but P'Burg was a shorter distance. In the end, better sense prevailed, and NS agreed to haul it to Hudson Yard instead of back to the D-L but in doing so made it quite clear that they would not touch the car again and that it was up to BR&W to find other arrangements.

Thanks Wolf. My schedule has been very hectic the past three weeks, so I wasn't able to get the photos linked and the post made here until now.

As referenced in the post, I was able to get up to Flemington Saturday night. Due to some much needed yard work, I wasn't able to get up to Ringoes before the train left. I caught up to the train at the Flemington Outlets. Here are some photos. The first is of the train at its final stop in Flemington at the old CNJ station: http://octrainguy.rrpicturearchives.net ... id=2179300

The train then shoved to the runaround at the outlets and the passenger crew awaited the arrival and passage of the freight train. Here's the SNS with 1202: http://octrainguy.rrpicturearchives.net ... id=2179298

And last but not least, GP9 752 with four cars entering the runaround at the outlets: http://octrainguy.rrpicturearchives.net ... id=2179299

Last chance to ride the SNS is the next two weekends, or to ride the Murder Mystery Train those two Saturday nights:

I thought the track outside of Flemington was in such bad shape that only a speeder could get down there. Was the track reapired?

Maybe your thinking of Lambertville. The tracks in Flemington have been in service, well forever.
